👉 The best method for hanging framed art:
Wire hanging kits are the preferred method for framing. Here’s why:
✅ Even weight distribution: A wire spreads the weight across two D-rings, making it less likely that your art will tilt or fall.
✅ Adjustability: A wire makes it easy to level your art after it’s on the wall — no crooked frames!
✅ Clean look: Using a wire keeps hardware hidden behind the frame, so your art is the star in your space.
✅ Flexibility: If you decide to rearrange your gallery wall, wire-hung art is quick to move and re-hang.
👉 What You’ll Need
-
A tape measure or ruler
-
Pencil

-
D-rings
-

-
A level
-
A hammer or drill
Hanging kit examples: This one is rated for 40lbs and this one is rated for 55lbs

👉 How to Hang Framed Art with a Wire Hanger
Step 1: Attach the Wire to the Frame
-
Lay your frame face down on a soft surface.
-
Screw a D-ring into each side of the frame, about ⅓ of the way down from the top.
-
Cut a piece of hanging wire about 1.5–2 times the width of your frame.
-
Thread the wire through each D-ring, pulling it snug but leaving a little slack so it forms a gentle arc.
-
Twist and secure the wire tightly, wrapping any excess wire around itself for safety.
It should look like this 👇👇

Step 2: Mark the Wall
-
Measure the distance from the top of the frame to the peak of the wire when it’s pulled up taut.
-
You can use painter’s tape to visualize your art placement on the wall.
-
Mark your hook locations based on the measurement above, ensuring they’re level.
Step 3: Install the Hooks
-
Use your hammer or drill to install wall hooks or screws with anchors (use drywall hooks if you have drywall).
-
Make sure they’re secure and weight-rated for your frame.
Step 4: Hang and Adjust
-
Hang your art by placing the wire over both hooks.
-
You can use a level if you want to adjust the frame until it’s perfectly straight.
-
Step back and admire your new art. 🎨 🖼️
