Meet Julie Maida
I'm Julie, the artist behind Creative Garden Studio. I paint calming, atmospheric, nature-inspired art. I love expansive skies, soft coastlines, the kind of landscapes that make a room feel a little calmer the moment you walk in.
Before this, I spent over 14 years as a creative director and designer, running my own creative agency. These days, you'll find me in my studio in Spotsylvania, Virginia, splitting my time between homeschooling my two boys with my husband and running a creative business where I paint every piece by hand.
The Why Behind My Work
At the heart of my art is a deep love for nature, peace, and quiet, atmospheric places. When I'm outside, I feel the most free, calm, and wholly myself and painting is my way of holding onto that feeling.
Nature has always been my refuge. It's where the noise of everyday life falls away, and it's the feeling I try to capture in every piece. It's not just a place, but the calm of standing in it. Whether it's a wide-open sky, a stretch of shoreline, or a quiet field at golden hour, I want my work to give you that same sense of stillness in your own home.
My favorite part of this work is the connection. I love hearing from collectors, and learning why a particular piece found its way to them. That's never really about decorating a wall. It's about the feeling a piece carries with it, and the place it finds in someone's story.
My work is an invitation to slow down. To reconnect with what matters. I want to bring a little of that calm, nature-inspired beauty into your own home, whether that means finally filling the big blank wall you've been staring at, or bringing something soft and grounding into a space that's ready for it.
Whatever brings you here, I hope you find a piece that feels like it was always meant to be part of your home.
